The number 5 moment is a match that many thought would never happen. But in WWE we say Never Say Never. Once upon a time Hulk Hogan left WWE for WCW and was pretty much persona non grata, but like I just said, Never Say Never. WCW was dead, the Invasion over, and the nWo has returned with Hogan, Nash, and Hall. The first real targets were Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock. Hogan would set his sights on Rocky the night after No Way Out, beating the hell out of him, and running an ambulance down with a semi. Rock would come back and the match in Toronto was set.
Entering the match at WrestleMania 18, The Rock was supposed to be the good guy, but all indications were that the crowd in Toronto didn't care and wanted to cheer their hero in Hulk Hogan. The match would change dynamics as Rocky was not happy with the fans booing him and cheering Hollywood. Hogan's weightbelt would be used by both competitors as the ref would be knocked down. But once Rock hit his signature moves, and Hogan powered out, The SkyDome crowd lost their collective minds. Hogan would hit the punches, the boot and leg drop, but Rock kicked out himself. Rocky would hit Rock Bottom once more and ended the dream bout. Hogan would shake hands with Dwayne, which infuriated Hall and Nash who would try to attack Hogan. Rocky would make the save, and both Hulk and Rock would stand tall.
Like I said before, most dream matches will never be seen. Bret Hart vs. Kurt Angle? Nope. AJ Styles vs. HBK? Highly doubtful. Randy Savage Vs. LA Knight? Sadly, no. But we did get The Rock vs. Hollywood Hulk Hogan, and at WrestleMania nonetheless. This was a moment that should have main evented the night, but that is a separate discussion in itself. I was still very young to wrestling at the time, and could not appreciate the gravity of the match at the time, but now I can and it is number 5 on our list. We are quickly getting to the end of our list, so Stay Tuned!!
